Bangalore, Feb 23, Abhijit Saha: 54 kg of gold is reportedly seized by the police at the Bangalore Airport. The police have trapped three men with 54 kg of gold worth Rs.16 crore at the Kempegowda international airport on yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) T.R. Suresh said to a news source that they trapped the accused and seized the gold on a tipoff from Kolkata police that they were on way to Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) via Bangalore by a SpiceJet flight. He also said that all the three accused have been held in reserve and are being interrogated to find out their background and intention behind carrying such huge quantity of gold.
The three men are identified as Ravi Varma, Eshwar Murthy and Balasubramanya. Nevertheless the three men had claimed to be gold merchants but none of them were carrying relevant documents with them in support of the quantity of the gold in their possession.
