Dhenkanal, 10 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: The police have said that no less than 9 people were killed and 6 others were severely injured in different street accidents in the state of Odisha on Friday.
5 people were killed in the district of Dhenkanal and 4 people have suffered injuries in another mishap in Balasore.
Again 4 people were killed and 2 of a family were severely injured as their vehicle hit a crane on NH5 close to Simulia in Balasore while they were returning back to their home from Jajpur to Kuanrpur after settling a marriage proposal.
Police said that 2 of them have died on the spot and 2 others have died on their way to the hospital and the rest injured people were admitted to Cuttack Medical College and later shifted to Bhadrakh hospital. The deceases were aged 10, 17, 40 and 67 years, police said.
The police also said that in the Dhenkanal mishap, 5 people have been killed injuring 4 others seriously. This mishap took place when their jeep slide off the road and hit a tree.
The deceased have been identified as Panchanan Behera aged 60 years, Sudhakar Sahu aged 55 years, Antarjami Behera aged 45 years, Souri Behera aged 35 years and Pramod Behera aged 28 years. All of them were from Bijadiha, police said.
