Bhubaneswar, 9 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: Amway India has posted a growth of 16 % in sales in Odisha in 2013 as compared to the sales of previous year.
Diptarag Bhattacharjee, the Vice President-East of Amway India has said that the company’s sales turnover in the state has increased to Rs 68.24 crore last year from Rs 59.1 crore posted in the previous year which is an increase of about 16 percent.
He credited this happening to the increase in disposable income of the people in Odisha.
Mr. Bhattacharjee said that sales growth rate achieved by Amway India in the state was the highest among all the states in India whereas in terms of volume of sales, the state has figured among the top 10 states.
As a state, Odisha has contributed about 3% to the national turnover and 16% to the turnover in the eastern region including West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, North East and Andaman Nicobar Islands.
He also said that out of total turnover, the nutrition segment alone contributes about 60 % followed by the beauty segment at 12 percent.
The company operates with 5 offices in Odisha which are located at Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Balasore, Jeypore and Rourkela. About 53 percent of total sales in the state is contributed from Home delivery.
Stating that the sales have been affected in Odisha because of the ongoing polls, Bhattacharjee said that it is liable to escalate once the elections results are out after 16th May.
The turnover of the company has touched Rs 2169 Crores in 2013 and it intends to reach net sales revenue of $ 1 billion by 2020. The company has decided to invest additional Rs 150 crore, in addition to earlier estimates of Rs 460 Crore, at its manufacturing unit in Tamilnadu which is expected to be commissioned by the end of this year.
