Bhubaneswar, 5 May-2014, Abhijit Saha: Deaths due to sun stroke in the state of Odisha have officially mounted to 12 with two more confirmed death cases having reached the Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) office today. The local office of Met has warned for possibility in the increase of temperature from 9th May for four days subsequently.
Sources from SRC office said that although it is alleged that overall 45 persons were killed till now throughout the State owing to heat wave conditions but as of now a total of 26 death cases had been confirmed.
Of these 26 deaths, only 12 have been confirmed dead due to sun stroke while the rest 18 cases were found to be died due to other reasons. Sources said that a final report is yet to be received in the cases of other 18 death from the district Collectors.
According to reports, Mayurbhanj recorded the highest three confirmed deaths due to sun stroke and one each was reported from Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Khurda, Bhadrak, Angul, Balangir, Dhenkanal and Baleswar.
