400 year old Temple reduced to ashes

DHARAMSHALA, February 16, Somitr Keshav: Aadi Himani Chamunda temple located on the Chandradhar peak of the Dhauladhar range was reduced to ashes. The temple is said to be 4oo years old.

Four youths of Dadh Village, who saw smoke rising from the temple, hiked to the hilltop, to find the temple destroyed. The youths reported the incident, said temple officer Surjan Singh. Officials said lighting would have struck the temple, triggering the fire.

Kangra deputy commissioner C Paul Rasu said the administration received the information and the exact cause of the fire would be known after a team of officials reached the spot and the team would be sent as soon as the weather condition improves.
