Gulam Jeelani , Gurgaon: A 19-year-old student of a government girls college was allegedly harassed and her two
brothers were thrashed by a group men at a busy market in Civil Lines area, police said on Monday.
Police said two of the accused stalked the BA first year student from her college in Sector 14 when she was walking towards home in Jacobpura on Saturday afternoon. When she reached Sadar Bazaar, the duo who were on a motorcycle intercepted her and asked her to accompany them.
“My brother who walks me home from college every day got delayed on Saturday. So I decided to walk some distance and meet him midway. The two men followed me on a motorcycle till an alley near Sadar Bazaar. They intercepted me and asked me to go with them,” she said in the police complaint.
By this time, the woman’s brother, who works for a private firm, reached the spot. He started arguing with the duo and it turned into a fist fight. The woman reached out to her second brother for help and one of the duo also called for help. All of them reached the spot and started fighting, police said.
The woman told police that the unknown accused thrashed her brothers and threatened to kill them.
The woman’s brothers were injured in the incident and they were treated at a local hospital, police said.
The woman filed a complaint against the unknown men at the Civil Lines police station on Sunday.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 354 D (stalking), 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
“An FIR has been lodged in the case against the accused. We have started the investigation,” assistant sub-inspector Savita, the investigation officer, said.
