Rashpal Singh,Gurgaon: The city will undergo a transformation in the coming days as the state government has
directed the district administration to beautify Gurgaon ahead of the inaugural function of Haryana Golden Jubilee celebrations on November 1.
Haryana chief secretary DS Dhesi was in Gurgaon on Wednesday to review the preparations.
The government is studying the seating plans of the Commonwealth Games and the International fleet review at Visakhapatnam. The plans would be replicated at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the inaugural function of celebrations to commemorate 50 years of Haryana formation on November 1, chief secretary Dhesi said.
As part of the efforts to beautify the city, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has procured four sweeping machines that would sweep 40 kilometres of road every day. Besides, more manpower will be deployed for improving the cleanliness of the city. However, the process is likely to be confined to the main roads and only till November 1.
Dhesi said lack of cleanliness at the event venue would not be tolerated. He also asked officers concerned to ensure firefighting arrangements and smooth traffic near the stadium on the day. He said steps would be taken for the beautification of the entire stretch from Delhi border to the event venue and buildings along the way would also be decorated with theme lighting. A similar beautification plan was undertaken during the Happening Haryana summit too.
MCG commissioner TL Satyaprakash said the corporation has 10 fire brigades and if needed more fire tenders would be called in from neighbouring districts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 50 new schemes and also inaugurate 50 completed projects during the function.
A light and sound show and a water laser show will be used to highlight the glorious past of the state from the Mahabharta era, Dhesi said.
