Bhubaneswar, 26 Jan, Abhijit Saha: The Governor of Oisha SC Jamir hoisted the National Flag of India in Bhubaneswar today at 8:30 on occasion of 65th Republic Day in Odisha Celebration.
The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik also hoisted the tricolour at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. In his address Mr Patnaik pleaded the people to protect the democratic and secular values in the state. In his speech he said that after the independence the strength of democracy has increased among the people. He also added that the people have increased their faith in democracy and secular values and that they have become more aware of their rights. Strong securities were setup across the Cuttack city and in other districts of Odisha. 28 platoons of police were deployed into service in the parade venue to ensure security in the state capital. The police have sealed the borders and anti-sabotage team along with sniffer dogs were also deployed in the city to check bomb explosives. Visitors were deferred to enter Barabati Stadium from 25th January till afternoon of 26th Stadium.
Earlier Maoists in some places of the state asked the people to abstain from celebrating Republic Day but due to tight security arrangements by the police, the celebrations stayed peaceful without any unfavourable incident.
