Amruta Fadnavis will be seen walking the ramp at the New York Fashion Week in Manhattan on September 8, in order to promote education for girl child and Indian handlooms. Amruta is wife of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis.
Amruta Fadnavis will be the showstopper for Chasa Institute of Design and Technology which is a college based in Pune, The institute educates many economically disadvantaged students.
Reportedly, the show will be choreographed by Lubna Adams and Fadnavis will walk the runway in an Indo-western attire crafted in handloom, designed by the students.
Amruta told The Indian Express, “I will be walking the ramp to spread the message of girls’ education as these designs have come from girl children who are daughters of farmers and porters. It is a novel initiative. I believe when we educate a girl child, we educate a family. And when the family is educated, the country moves ahead.”
As per reports, Amruta had also walked the ramp for NIFT to promote some weaving forms of Maharashtra, few months ago. Previously, Amruta had also sung a song for Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal that starred Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
