0211 hrs: Deepika Kumari beats Italian international Guendalina Sartori in the round of 32 to enter pre-quaterfinals

0144 hrs: Archer Deepika Kumari moves into the round of 32 after first victory over World No. 8 Kristine Esebua of Georgia.

2057 hrs: India seemed to have lost all hope, but with 8 seconds remaining, Anuradha Thokchom shoots from near-shoulder height, which is contested, and rejected. So, India end up with the one goal, though they lose the match 1-6.

2041 hrs: Jodie Kenny once again, converting yet another penalty corner, after a devious feint. 6-0 in Australia’s favour. It’s Kenny’s 100th International goal too!

2040 hrs: As the fourth Quarter begins, Savita sticks her left hand out for a strong save.

2035 hrs: And it’s 5-0 now courtesy a cool penalty stroke by Jodie Kenny. Not looking good for India, the are toying with the Indian goalposts.

2027 hrs: It’s a free-for-all with the Australian women here. 4-0 now as Georgie Parker slams it past Punia.

2024 hrs: But Australia gets their third anyway a minute later. Jane-Anne Claxton has smashed it into the back of the net to make it 3-0 in the 3rd Quarter.

2023 hrs: The Australian midfielder is blindsighted, unable to see the ball trickling around near the net, easily tappable into a goal. That could have been number 3.

2020 hrs: 3rd Quarter, and India still searching for their first breakthrough.

2000 hrs: Savita Punia slaps one away.

1943 hrs: Now, Georgina Morgan converts another corner into a goal with a drag-flick.

The women from Down-Under take a 2-0 lead within 12 minutes into the match.
