PM Modi should come to Parliament and discuss Kashmir issue, demands Ghulam Nabi Azad

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday took up a discussion on Jammu and Kashmir issue, a day after the Upper House witnessed noisy scenes during the Zero Hour with the Opposition demanding a discussion.

Raising the issue, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed serious concern over violent incidents in the valley resulting in the death of civilians and security personnel.

Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not addressing the concerns of the Kashmiris in Parliament, Azad said there is murder of humanity and democracy in Kashmir and called for integration of hearts for an amicable solution to the crisis.

Escalating his attack on the Prime Minister, Azad said he tweets about everything, but not Kashmir.

“You call Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India, but there needs to be integration of hearts between the people of India and Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reached out to the people of Kashmir and indicated his willingness to hold dialogue under the framework of the ‘Insaniyat (humanity), Jamhuriyat (democracy) and Kashmiriyat’.

Burhan Wani was more dangerous on internet than on streets. He’s more dangerous dead than alive.

It is very important at this stage not to make a distinction between Kashmir-the land & Kashmir-the people.

There is a difference between communalism and separatism. Law and order is not sole responsibility of Kashmir police, paramilitary forces are also involved.

You call Jammu & Kashmir an integral part of India, but there should be integration of hearts and minds.

There needs to be integration between Centre & State government.
That is not seen, else what PM said wouldn’t have come from Madhya Pradesh but Parliament.

Jammu & Kashmir has a curfew, many people have been injured. Civilians have faced losses. And as Parliament is on, we all need to share their pain.

Ghulam Nabi Azad on Kashmir

We all have been target of militancy. Everyone in Kashmir is a victim of militancy. Many of us have lost near and dear ones.

This is the fourth time we are discussing Kashmir in Rajya Sabha. PM Modi tweets on events across the world, but silent on Kashmir crisis.

Don’t just love Kashmir for its beauty, love Kashmir for its people, love the children and people who lost their eyes.

“We did not hear PM’s statement on Dalit issues here in the Parliament. We got to hear about his views from Telangana. We have been repetitively demanding that PM should come and make statements on such issues (Kashmir & Dalit issues) in the Parliament. PM addresses on Kashmir issue from Madhya Pradesh and not from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. I don’t know when the capital and Parliament was shifted” : Ghulam Nabi Azad
