New Delhi: In the wake of the incident in Gujarat where Dalits were beaten up for skinning a dead cow in Gir Somnath, a Hindu radical group on Tuesday beat two Muslim women at Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur railway station allegedly over the possession of beef.

According to NDTV, police had received tip-off that two women were carrying beef, following which they were detained. However, a group of people started beating them up and abusing them verbally.
The beef was allegedly brought from Jaora to be sold in Mandsaur, the report said.
A crowd is seen surrounding the women and thrashing them, although the police attempted to keep the crowd at a distance. Finally, the police managed to take the women to the police station after half-an-hour.
Local doctors who examined the 30 kg of meat found that it was not beef, but buffalo’s meat.
The women have been produced in court by the police, but no action has been taken against the men and women who publicly assaulted the accused.
A fortnight ago, some persons who claimed to be ‘Gau-Rakshak’ (cow protectors) arrived at Mota Samadhiyala and beat up seven Dalit youths who were allegedly skinning a dead cow. The attackers alleged that the Dalits had slaughtered the cow.

The incident in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh comes close on the heels of beating of four dalit youth in party’s bastion Gujarat, she said.
She asked Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to respond to targeting of women of his community in the name of cow protection.
As she completed her submission, BSP members trooped into the Well of the House, shouting anti-government slogans.
Congress members too joined them in the well.
