HYDERABAD: The negligence of civil authorities has claimed the life of a 24-year-old man, who fell in a trench that was dug up for construction of a manhole by the water board at Madhapur on Sunday night.
As it rained heavily in the locality, the five-feet deep trench was filled with rain water. Mothi Yadav, the deceased, was returning home after day’s work when he accidentally fell into the trench.
Yadav, a native of Jharkhand, had been residing at Ayyappa Society in the city for the last four months. He worked as a tea master in a nearby hotel. At around 9.30 pm on Sunday, passersby noticed him falling into the trench near Kasani GR hotel on the Madhapur Main Road. He died on the spot. Police believe that the man might have got electrocuted as there were electric cables in the trench.
