MUMBAI:The controversial film Udta Punjab caught in a crossfire of debate and counter-debated on censorship…
Just when the makers of the much anticipated film Udta Punjab heaved a sigh of relief with the Bombay HC passing the movie with one cut, they have gotten themselves to face a bigger trouble this time, i.e., piracy.
According to a report published on Spotboye.com, major chunk of the movie has already been released online. The said portion that is supposedly available on certain torrent websites is of 40 minutes duration. It is alleged that the leaked version was meant for the CBFC as it has the watermark “For Censor.” Other reports that have surfaced suggest that the full movie of 2 hours 20 minutes duration is also available online.
With major part of the movie leaked even before the theatrical release of the film, speculations are rife that it has been done as a deliberate attempt to wreck havoc for the film by those who are against its release, reports Spotboye.
Apparently, the said leaked video also includes the only scene (Shahid Kapoor’s character Tommy Singh’s urinating scene) that the Bombay HC had demanded to be cut from the movie. The movie which also stars Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Punjabi rockstar Diljit Dosanjh is set for its theatrical release on June 17.
Reportedly, the producers of the film, Anurag Kashyap and Ekta Kapoor have approached the Cyber Crime Cell in Bandra Kurla Complex and lodged a complaint in order to tackle the situation. The The duo has asked the division to disable all the links of the movie’s online version, reports Spotboye.
