CBI carries out raids at Visva Bharati University to probe irregularities by sacked VC

KOLKATA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out raids at the Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan on Tuesday in connection with financial irregularities during the tenure of former vice-chancellor Sushanta Dattagupta.

A two-member team reached the university where they carried out raids at several offices and seized documents. A separate team of the CBI was carrying raids at Dattagupta’s residence at Salt lake.

Dattagupta was sacked by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in the month of February this year.
