According to Bajekar Rahul, who lost 13 of his family members and is undergoing treatment at Bhainsa hospital, the brick kiln workers had started from their place of work to reach Adelli Pochamma temple, located in a forest in Sarangapur mandal, about 100 km away from Navipet. The auto in which they were travelling had barely travelled 25 km on the NH 222 when the accident took place as the tipper coming from opposite direction collided with it head on, leaving 14 dead on the spot while one more victim died in hospital.

According to the injured, both the auto and the tipper swerved to the same side as result of the confusing glare from head lamps of both the vehicles which resulted in collision.
