BJP MLAs boycott the Budget Debate

SHIMLA, February 11, Somitr Keshav: The debate in the Himachal Vidhan Sabha started with the entire Opposition benches being empty as the BJP Legislature Party chose to continue with its protest and stay away from the debate on Budget proposal for 2014-15.

“It is unfortunate that for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) members are giving importance to Narinder Modi’s rally”, than this august House, where the entire development of the state for the year is to be discussed, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in the House.

He added that BJP was only making excuses for boycotting the Assembly as the real reason was that it wanted to prepare for the success of Narinder Modi’s rally at Sujanpur.

Gujarat CM Narinder Modi is scheduled to address a ‘Parivartan’ rally at Sujanpur in Hamirpur assembly segment on February 16.

Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) chief Mashewar Singh initiated the debate. He showered praise on the Chief Minister.  He lauded the budget, while criticizing the opposition for its repeated walkouts. The state government should expedite investigation into the ‘scams and misdeeds of the previous BJP government’, he said.
