East Bengal are facing Shillong Lajong FC in the home leg of their Federation Cup tie at the Barasat Stadium in Kolkata.
The Red and Gold brigade had lost the away leg in Shillong by 2-1.

East Bengal have always found the going tough against their north east rivals. In Lajong’s home leg, goals Chinglensana Singh and Fabio Pena had given them a much needed win. East Bengal’s Do Dong Hyun had found the back of the net but his strike went in vain.
Lajong, had also beaten East Bengal in their final I-League match in Shillong.
The first 90 minutes of the second leg has seen some pulsating action and the home side are ahead by 2-1 thanks to goals from Ranti Martins and Lalrindika Ralte. However, Fabio Pena has kept the men from Shillong in the game with a strike in the 17th minute.
So the aggregate stands at 3-3 (taking into account the home and away fixtures). Extra time will be played now. If that doesn’t separate the teams, then the match will proceed to a penalty shoot out.
The first half of extra time hasn’t produced any goals. Now only 15 minutes of the second half of extra time separates the teams from a tie-breaker.
