Chennai: The Election Commission is taking its advertisements and campaign for 100 per cent turnout to the streets.
LED video display van to create awareness on voting was inaugurated in Chennai
On Friday, the Commission unveiled its campaign on vehicles with LED screens that will now go across the city and districts.
Each district has one vehicle with the LED screen and will go to every locality and run its ads and campaigns with the aim of achieving maximum turnout at the polls. The vehicles will spend a considerable amount of time in crowded public places and areas like the beach.
Cases against parties
Meanwhile, the Commission has filed 652 cases against various parties for illegally painting walls with political ads, flying banners and posters, in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Out of a total 1,82, 188 complaints received, 93,868 were closed after the wall paintings were removed, a press release said.
A total of Rs. 9.39 crore in cash has been seized by the various squads.
