Odisha, February 7, Abhijit Saha: In today’s Rajya Sabha polls three BJD candidates and one Congress candidate won. The winning BJD candidates are Kalpataru Das, Sarojini Hembram and Ananga Uday Singhdeo and the winning congress candidate is Rajib Biswal who is also the chairman of Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kalpataru Das, who is a candidate of Biju Janta Dal (BJD), has got 33 legislatures vote, Ananga Uday Singhdeo also got 33 legislatures votes and Sarojini Hembram got 31 legislatures votes according to the reports. On the other hand the congress candidate Rajib Biswal got 29 legislatures vote whereas the independent candidate Raghunath Mohapatra got 20 legislatures vote.
For Rajya Sabha elections total 146 MLAs cast their votes earlier. Manoj Pradhan of BJP goes without voting. MLA of Bonai, Bhimsen Choudhury who was previously expelled from BJP party for some reasons, did cast his vote very first. Vote counting started in the presence of candidates and other agents excluding Raghunath Mohapatra. MLA of Berhampur Ramesh Chandra Chayu Patnaik and another congress MLA both of them cast cast vote inspite of their illness.
BJP leader Jaynarayan Mishra ending the conjecture said that earlier their party decided to support Raghunath Mohapatra so as to accomplish their goal making India Congress free.
