Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh causes blockade of roads


SHIMLA, February 7, Sandipan Sharma: Highways and ways in numerous parts of Himachal Pradesh were obstructed after moderate to overwhelming snowfall since right on time Friday, authorities said.

The beautiful vacationer resort Manali, Manikaran, known for a Sikh hallowed place, and Banjar territory in Kullu region have been cut off after snow heaped on streets, an official here said.

Connectivity on the Kullu-Manali national interstate was snapped at Kullu, practically 40 km before Manali, which likewise encountered snow. Manali and adjacent Solang ski inclines encountered more than two feet of snow.

The base temperature in Manali was less 1.4 degree Celsius, the climate office here said. Bhuntar in Kullu area saw 48.4 mm downpour. The town of Kalpa in Kinnaur, around 250 km from here, encountered 15.2 cm of snow and recorded a low of less 2.8 degrees Celsius. Individuals have been encouraged to stay inside in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur regions and not to experience torrential slide inclined ranges.

Drizzle lashed easier ranges of the state, for example, Dharamsala, Palampur, Solan, Nahan, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur and Mandi, pulling down temperatures.
