IPL 2016 Player Auction: SRH snap up Yuvraj for 7 crores, Watson sold for Rs 9.5 crores to RCB

A total of 351 players will vie for 116 slots as eight teams fight to pick them at the 2016 IPL auctions in Bengaluru on Saturday. Here’s all you need to know about the big players going under the hammer as well as the relatively unknown ones and how much franchises have left in their kitty to splurge.

Manoj Tiwary at Rs 100 L. The player remains unsold.

Player 33 is the recently married Irfan Pathan. Base price is Rs 1 crore.

RPSG bid at Rs 100 lakhs.

Pune snaps up Irfan Pathan for Rs 1 crore.

Cameron Bancroft of Australia has a very low base price of Rs 10 lakhs.

Alas, Bancroft remains unsold at even Rs 10 lakhs.

Dinesh Karthik of India for Rs 2 crores. No one’s bidding on him, yet.

RCB begins the bidding at Rs 200 Lakh.

Rajkot bid 210 on Karthik.

Gujarat Lions have taken Dinesh Karthik for Rs 230 L (Rs 2.3 crores).

Brad Haddin of Australia, recently retired. Rs 150 lakh is the base price. He is unsold.

Morne Van Wyk of SA is also unsold at Rs 30 lakh.

Sam Billings of England, no one really seems to know him. Sam is unsold at Rs 30 lakhs.

Ben Dunk the Aussie wicket keeper batsman. For Rs 30 lakh. Unsold.

Shane Dowrich from the West Indies at a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

He goes unsold.

Jos Buttler of England is the next keeper at Rs 1.5 crores. Mumbai have bid for him.

Kolkata Knight Riders bid 160 L at the very end.

Mumbai Indians are surprised but get back with 190 L.

Mumbai have the bid after some war at Rs 250 L.

KKR finally say 260…280…300.

The auctioneer is trying to motivate the teams to keep bidding higher.

Jos Buttler is at Rs 380 L to the Mumbai Indians. He is sold to the Mumbai Indians at that price.

​Sanju Samson bid by Rajkot for Rs 200 L (Rs 2 crores) – base price.

Delhi Daredevils say 210 L.

Lions back with Rs 220 L.

Delhi Rs 230 L.

Lions say 240 L. Delhi raise the bid to Rs 250 L.

The bid has been raised to 320 L by Delhi.

Gujarat Lions bid 350 L.

Delhi Daredevils bid Rs 380 L.

Rajkot says they are out of the bidding at Rs 420 L.

Delhi have the bid at 420 L, and it Samson sold to them at that amount.

Mahela Jayawardene at Rs 150 L. He remains unsold. Big name out.

Michael Hussey is next, for Rs 2 crores (Rs 200 L). He also remains unsold.

Player No 14 is Usman Khawaja from Australia. He remains unsold.

Cheteshwar Pujara goes unsold even at Rs 50 L.

Hashim Amla is the new player in auction, for Rs 100 L. He remains unsold.

Amla had never played in IPL before.

George Bailey is the next player at Rs 100 L (Rs 1 crore).

He remains unsold.

Dale Steyn is the last marquee player in the auction.

His base price was Rs 1.5 crores. He is sold to Gujarat Lions at Rs 2.3 crores.

Mumbai Indians bid for Yuvi at 200 L.

210 L from the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai bid 220 L

Mumbai 280, RCB 290…..

350 Mumbai, 380 by RCB.

420 by RCB. 450 by MI, 480 by RCB.

Mumbai Indians pull out at 550 Lakh. RCB have the bid.

Sunrisers bid 600 L. RCB say 650. SRH say 700.

Challengers are out at 700 lakhs.

Yuvraj Singh has been sold to the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rs 700 lakhs (Rs 7 crores).

KXIP’s Preity Zinta says 300 lakhs for Nehra.

The Sunrisers have pushed Nehra’s bid up to 380 L.

Nehra has been finally sold to the Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 550 L (5.5 crores).

Shane Watson comes in for some heavy bidding. Finally he is snapped up by RCB for Rs 9.5 crores.

KKR has a doubt over the incremental bids. They go at 10 lakh until 3 crore. Then 20 lakh, 30 lakh, 20 lakh until 5 crore. And then 50 lakh each.

Aaron Finch is in a similar position as Guptill. He gets no bids from anyone.

Gujarat Lions have won Dwayne Smith for Rs 2.3 crore.

Rising Pune Supergiants have won the services of Ishant Sharma at Rs 3.8 crores.

Martin Guptill of New Zealand has surprisingly gone unsold in the auction.
