Reports say that the security given to 25 celebrities has also been withdrawn.

The Mumbai Police has said that there was nothing new in the move as it was a routine practice to analyse threat perception and review the security given to celebrities.

Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan were provided additional security in the light of their comments on the intolerance debate. After the assessement review, two armed constables will accompany the actors in two shifts, reports The Indian Express.

Akhshay Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt will remain under Mumbai police cover because they have received death threats and extortion calls from underworld.

Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar, and Amitabh Bachchan will be provided round-the-clock security and a police escort because of their status as iconic figures.
