Tripoli: At least 65 people were killed when a truck bomb hit a police training centre in the Libyan town of Zliten on Thursday, the town’s mayor said. Zliten mayor Miftah Lahmadi said the truck exploded at the centre as hundreds of recruits were gathering there.
Witnesses also reported dozens of casualties, some of whom were taken to hospital in the nearby city of Misrata. United Nations special representative to Libya, Martin Kobler, condemned what he called a suicide attack.
There are no claims of responsibility for the attack yet.
