Kolkata: One person was arrested named as Dipanjan Mitra by Kolkata Police on Wednesday for sending a threat SMS to Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay. The arrested, identified as Dipanjan Mitra who is a web designer, freelance photographer by profession and allegedly member of RSS cyber cell who is a resident of Kasba.

Police have slapped charges of 506 and 120 B of the IPC against the accused. However, the motive of sending the threat sms is yet to be known. The police have also seized his phone and is likely to be produced in the local court on Thursday.
Bandyopadhyay had registered a complaint with the Taltala Police Station on Tuesday after he received the threat SMS while the Parliament session was on.
“I received a message at 1:25 PM from an unknown number yesterday. It said that I will be killed and my body will taken to Kalighat in Kolkata. The nature of the language was also derogatory. I responded to the message and I again received two messages at 2:15 PM and 2:24 PM today. I raised this issue with our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following which she addressed a press conference. She has also advised me to put this on the record of the House,” Bandopadhyay said on Tuesday.
