Nitish Kumar sworn in as Bihar CM for the 5th time; Lalu’s sons join Cabinet

Patna: Nitish Kumar was on Friday sworn in as Bihar Chief Minister for the fifth time in a grand ceremony at Gandhi maidan, in the presence of important leaders and chief ministers of several states.

RJD leader Lalu Prasad’s both sons — Tejaswi and Tej Pratap also took oath as ministers in Nitish government.

Before the ceremony, Nitish Kumar was seen greeting Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Venkaiah Naidu and Sushil Modi.

The ceremony was attended by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, his National Conference counterpart Farooq Abdullah and Congress leaders in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also attended the event.

Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shrawan Kumar, Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lallan and Jay Kumar Singh, all members of the outgoing cabinet, will also find a place in the new Ministry.

From RJD’s quota of 12 ministers, names of Tejaswi Yadav, his brother Tej Pratap Yadav, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Abdul Gafoor, Vijay Prakash, Chandrika Rai, Mundrika Singh Yadav, Santosh Nirala, Ram Vichar Rai and Sheo Chander Ram were confirmed by RJD sources, reported PTI.

The official guest list has name of UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, but he will not be attending Nitish’s swearing-in ceremony as he is reportedly busy in ‘Green UP, Clean UP’ campaign in Saifai.
