Chennai: A city court on Wednesday allowed a Leftist singer, who was arrested for alleged sedition, to be sent to police custody for two days. The court granted the police custody of 54-year-old Kovan, propagandist singer of ultra Left arts and literary outfit ‘Makkal Kalai Ilakkiya Kazhagam’. He was arrested at Tiruchirapalli on October 30 for alleged sedition, uploading “defamatory” electronic content against Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and “disturbing” public peace.
