New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation on his monthly radio programme “Mann ki Baat”.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to India and South Africa team ahead of the the fifth ODI match. Modi said, “Today India and South Africa are playing the 5th ODI. Both teams won two matches so it’ll be an interesting match. My best wishes.”
Asserting that organ donation is an important issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Tamil Nadu for their leading endeavours in this regard while praising the other states for their initiatives towards the cause. “Organ donation is an important issue. The need for kidneys, heart and livers is high but less number of transplants happen. Some legal hassle involve in this process, while efforts have been made by some states to reduce paper work.”
He further added, “Some states have taken a lead on organ donation and made processes simpler. Tamil Nadu is at the forefront.” Modi also said that a National Organ & Tissue Transplant organisation has been set up.
Referring to India-Africa Summit, Modi added, “This is a festive season and in this the India-Africa summit is one more festive occasion. “India and Africa have many similarities. So many people of Indian origin have been staying in Africa.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that the government will launch a gold monetization scheme. Under the gold monetisation scheme, people can now park gold in banks to earn a rate of interest on it.
