Bhubaneswar Airport is Ready for International Flight Operations

Bhubaneswar, February 4, Abhijit Saha: The Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar is ready for international flight operations.

Yesterday a meeting was held with Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore as chairman in secretariat conference hall where Principal Secretary Home Sri Vipin Saxena and Director of Civil Aviation Premananda Khuntia summarized the matters for discussion. Sri P.K.Mohapatra the Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Sri Bishnupada Sethy Secretary of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development, Sri Niten Chandra Special secretary for General Administration and Special Deputy General of Police Mr. Sanjeeb Marik and some other prestigious senior officials were also present in the meeting.

On Monday Odisha Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra advised Mr. Sharad Kumar Director of Bhubaneswar Airport to accelerate the approval process of international flight schedules from the airport with the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

In the meeting it has been discussed that Fly Dubai and Air Asia are ready to begin trial run from 1st week of March. Fly Dubai will run from Bhubaneswar to Dubai and Air Asia will run from Bhubaneswar to Kualalumpur.

Sharad Kumar said that in the meeting issues related to deployment of government officers, training of personnel, etc., are discussed. He also said that the Odisha government is supporting us in all matters and also providing the required manpower for health, plant, emigration, customs and quarantine Services.

It is also decided in the meeting that a week’s training would be provided to the airport personnel in Kolkata in the month of February.  It is also decided in the meeting that the software and necessary connectivity requirements will also be introduced at air port all by the current month.
