After all the speculations, Yash Raj Films, on the occasion of Yash Chopra’s’ 83rd birth anniversary, have announced Aditya Chopra’s return to the director’s chair.
On Sunday, Chopra shared an emotional imaginary conversation with his father, his ‘go-to guy,’ Late Yash Chopra. The imaginary conversation ended with, “So with the blessings of my father, on his 83rd birth anniversary, I am announcing my next directorial venture after seven years. Befikre – Those who dare to love.
Chopra last directed Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008 with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, which was a breakout vehicle for the latter.
Yash Raj Films are known for their big banner, big budget movies; and now, big numbers at the box office. But in this heartfelt, imaginary conversation, Chopra makes it clear that the Befikre project revolves around the fun of making a film; it will be made out of the love for the art. Befikre will not be made to chase numbers or break the box office records.
Chopra has penned the script for Befikre, which he describes as a light-hearted romance; his happiest movie; his youngest, riskiest film yet; while he was working on his other big projects.
The e-letter stirs emotions, and one can hope that this new venture will do the same for the viewers.
