Guwahati (Web team): The protest demonstration organized by the Assam unit of BJP against the alleged failures of the ruling Congress in the state on all fronts at Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati continued for the second day Tuesday.
The demonstration staged by all incumbent MLAs and MPs, former MLAs and MPs and office-bearers of the party.
The BJP has accused the state government of diverting funds meant for development towards payment of salaries, bringing all development to a standstill.
It also accused the state government of failing to take up advance planning to meet the annual flood problem and demanded adequate monetary compensation for next to kin of those killed in floods and for farmers who lost their crops and land.
The party also expressed concern at the law and order situation in the state and claimed that the growing incidents of rape, murder and other crimes have put the people in a state of panic and fear.
The BJP further accused the Congress government of selecting beneficiaries for social welfare schemes based on party leanings.
