Karnataka: 14 killed in diesel tanker-goods vehicle accident in Mudhol

At least 14 people were killed when a diesel tanker rammed into a goods vehicle on the Belagavi-Raichur State Highway.

A report in The Hindu states that six people have been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred in Mudhol taluk on Friday.

The diesel tanker was going to Vijayapura while the goods lorry carrying people was heading towards Gadanahatti village. 10 people died on the spot when the accident occurred.

The report also adds that Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to ensure that the diesel tanker didn’t catch fire. The driver of the diesel tanker was not injured and he escaped from the accident scene apparently. It is stated that the diesel tanker belongs to Basanagouda Nadagouda of Vijayapura.

The goods vehicle was completely destroyed in the accident. People from the villages of the victims gathered at the accident spot as soon as it happened. The police have registered a case. Currently, the victims have been shifted to Lokapur government hospital.
