Odisha, March 26, Abhijit Saha: The third unit of the GMR Group’s thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district of Odisha became operational. This is a 350 MW coal based thermal power plant. This plant was declared operational with effect from 25th March.
Its first unit in the same category became operational on 30th April last year and the second unit become serviceable from 12th November last year.
Now the combined capacity of the three plants has reached to 1050 MW in Odisha. The GMR group’s overall capacity has reached 2485.6 MW with this.
GMR Group is responsible for the global infrastructure major working in airport, highway, energy and urban infrastructure sectors. The group is also committed to establish the 1,400 MW GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) in two phases of 3 x 350 MW and 1 x 350 MW respectively. GKEL will provide power supply to Odisha, Haryana, Bihar and other places in the country.
The Managing Director of GKEL R V Sheshan said that they have completed the first phase of the project working with all the three units of 350 MW each and the work for second and final phase of the project would begin soon.
