Kannur, 24 March, Sreeparvathy K.: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that notification of November 13 will not be applicable to the Economic Sensitive Areas (ESA) excluded as per Draft Notification of Kasturi Rangan report. He added that 3115 sq km area of inhabited lands, agricultural lands and estates are ruled of the ESA. He also accused the media of cheating people by spreading wrong information.
On the other hand, Ministry of Environment and Forests have stated that notification of November 13 will be stay till the final draft on the Kasturi Rangan report is released. Ministry gave the affidavit in the National Green Tribunal. The advocate for Kerala pleaded that petition filed by Goa Foundation is not valid since the draft notification was released. The Tribunal questioned the grounds on which lenience was given to Kerala and clarified that it will scrutinize the draft notification. Meanwhile, the Tribunal also asked Goa Foundation to state its opinion.
